Becoming an Acupuncture Physician

Sherry J. Ingbritsen

There are a lot of thoughts that go into deciding on a college, and a degree program. Can I afford it? Can I manage daycare for my kids? Will my job work around my school schedule? Can I handle the classes and the homework? All excellent questions for certain. People of all ages and backgrounds come into our college wanting to become an Acupuncture Physician, but they all have the same worries. It’s understandable; the choice to go back to college, later in life for many, is a difficult one. But, it’s all worth it in the long run. As the prospective students hear more about the courses and tour the campus, they become more at ease. However, nothing makes their eyes light up more than when we talk about graduation, specifically “the coating ceremony”. The idea that at graduation, in front of their friends and family, they will receive their white coat that reads “Dr. John Smith, Acupuncture Physician”! It’s like a bright light at the end of a tunnel. They realize the importance of their education, and they can immediately picture themselves wearing that special white coat.

The day before our last graduation ceremony, I was touring a student around campus, and the graduates were all in the front lobby trying on their newly embroidered, clean white coats.

They were all smiles from ear to ear. Their long journey was coming to an end; they had made it to graduation! The prospective student with me shared in their excitement, and continued in that feeling the rest of their time with me. The woman’s young daughter looked up at her and said, “Mommy, will you get a white coat too”? That sealed it for her. If you put the worrisome thoughts aside, put on a can do attitude, and look at the bigger picture, you will realize you too can become an Acupuncture Physician. The choices are in your hands, East West College is here to help you step into your future!
